Does this training satisfy the law?

Yes, our CIEH eLearning courses are an established way of meeting the legal requirement. The food safety laws were updated in 2006 and our programme has incorporated all these changes.

According the Food standards Agency: "Food handlers must receive appropriate supervision, and be instructed and/or trained in food hygiene, to enable them to handle food safely. Those responsible for developing and maintaining the business's food safety procedures, based on HACCP principles, must have received adequate training".

On successful completion of the course you will be able to print a certificate which can be shown to the Environmental Health Officer as evidence of training.

This certificate edited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health can be used as proof of compliance with the law.

You can easily reset your password thanks to the eLearning platform, or you can send an email to and we will help you in the process.

When will I get my certificate?

Your certificate will be printable once you have passed at the end of the course review module.

Once you have completed the course module, you will have to go back to the homepage of your account, click on the tab “Enrolled learning modules” and enter the module names “Course review”.

How long do I have to complete the course?

You will have one year to complete your course.

Does the course have to be completed in one go?

No, you can complete the modules at your own pace. You can even log off and the system will allows you to bookmark your place so you can stop and start anytime.

What if I want to revise a topic?

You can access the course at any time, and navigate to a particular module/topic to re-do the learning screens. Additionally, you can download a revision summary in pdf format at the end of each topic.

What if I fail my exam?

You can retake your exam as many times as necessary free of charge until you recieve the acceptable pass mark.

Technical questions

Do I need speakers?

Yes. You will need external speakers or headphones. The course can be completed without audio, but this is not advisable as it could impact the learning effectiveness.

We recommend you test your sound before starting, and check your system volume. You can do this in the Windows Taskbar by clicking the Speaker icon. On a Mac the Volume control icon is on the top bar.

Will the course run on my Mac?

Yes. The course will run on Mac 10.4 (Tiger) or 10.5 (Leopard) with Safari browser, or Firefox 2.0 and above.

Will the course work on my PC?

Yes. The course will work on any Windows 2000, 2003, XP or Vista PC with either Internet Explorer 6 and above or Firefox 2.0 and above.
